    To all who can help:

I am having problems with my Linksys Wireless-B Router with 4 port switch. Here are the problems:

    1. I am not able to access the setup/options page via http://192.168.1.1. No matter how many times I restart my browser and/or my computer, i can't access it. I have tried to reset my router to the factory default even and can't get it to work.

    2. Which leads into problem number two. I have tried a couple few different methods (two of them recommended to me by Linksys, via online chat help). Including pressing and holding the reset button, unplugging the power chord while still holding the reset button, and then plugging back in the power chord and holding the reset for still another 30 seconds. The other Linksys recommended reset was to unlugging the router for 30 secs and pushing the reset and plugging it back in then holding the reset for 30 secs.

    3. I am getting no signal from my router that the "wireless" part of the wireless router is working. The "wireless-B" LED on the front of the router is not lit up.

though the internet is working through the router, any help with this would ease my frustrations greatly.

    Thanks

Clear your browser cache and history. Unplug all cat 5 cables from your router. With power on, push a paper clip or something stronger into that little reset hole on the back and hold it in until the lights all flash a couple of times. Then unplug it and wait about 20 seconds and plug it back into a wall outlet. Reboot any of your computers that were attached and then reconnect everything. Now you will have to restore all previous settings in your router but that should do the trick.

    ;)

Well, the result of trying 192.168.1.1 is that the browser seems like it is trying to load the page (status bar reads: opening page 192.168.1.1), then it goes to Yahoo search results page. I can't even get a response from PING 192.168.1.1.

    Ideas?

As a response to the method of resetting the router: No good. Even with all cables unplugged, pressing the reset button, for 20 seconds and then again for longer than 20 seconds, yielded no results. The power LED continues to flash and no signal from the wireless part of the router.

Is this happening on a single computer? Or have you tried to access the setup from a secondary computer? Along the same lines, are you able to pull an ip address on your computer from the router?

The router is from a single computer, but i have tried using a hardline connection with my laptop. But the same results: no access to the router via 192.168.1.1. To the second question, yes, I am still able to pull an IP address for my computer through the router.

    Can you ping the router?
Open a command prompt and type:
ping 192.168.1.1 and press the enter key.

That is actually one of the first things I tried after I couldn't connect to the admin page via http://192.168.1.1. I should have mentioned that previous to now.

Anyway, the results of the PING is 100% loss on communication. There is no response from the PING.

If I understand correctly what you is being asked, I am getting an IP Address of 64.113.95.166.

Here is what I did. Let me know if this is what was meant:

    1. Open command prompt
    2. Enter: ipconfig
    3. ENTER

OK. The router is NOT giving you that ip, that ip is from Iowa State University which owns this range of ip's:
    loris32.student.iastate.edu
    64.113.64.0 - 64.113.95.255
    Iowa State University
    Academic Information Technologies
    291 Durham Hall
    Ames, IA
    US

The school may already have a wireless connection and that is how you have the internet connection! see this ISU page:
    http://www.ait.iastate.edu/network/oncampus.html

    next use this command:
    ipconfig /all

    Ok, to clarify:

I have a wireless router with a 4 port switch on it and have a desktop hooked up to a port on the the router. The internet is working fine through the hardline to the desktop computer. Here again are my problems:

    1. The wireless part of the router apparently isn't even active. I am getting no signal from the wireless part of the router.

    2. I am unable to access the admin options page when I use http://192.168.1.1.

    3. I am unable to simply reset the router to the factory settings using the factory recommended reset method or any method recommended to me from outside sources.

Question: What am I looking for when I do ipconfig/all ?

The computer for which I was planning on using the wireless router for is my laptop. It has a wireless card and I use it all around campus.

As of now, the only way I can get internet through my laptop is through a hardline, or through access from another wireless router (not mine).

My router isn't broadcasting a signal at all. There is no connection wirelessly from my router.

The only access to the internet from the router is through a hardline via one of the 4 ports on the router to my desktop computer or a hardline to my laptop.
