    Hi,
I just upgraded my system ( MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum, Athlon 64 3500 +...). My Gnet BB0039 USB Adsl modem loaded fine, but after I restarted the computer would not connect to the modem. I'm sure it is installed and set up correctly, and I know it works fine because I've tried it on another computer. Also, when I try to unistall the modem software, the process freezes, and sometimes gives a message saying the the Remote Procedure call has failed. I've checked for viruses with AVG and found none. What can I do next?
    Thanks,
    Chris

It's possible the modem wants more power than a particular USB port (or set of them if you have ports on the case front & rear) can provide. If you do have the front/rear port option, try switching from whatever set you are using to the other set.

Otherwise, some troubleshooting. When you get the RPC failure, have you checked to make sure the service is still running?

Event logs may well have more detail so have you checked there?

I have not checked any event logs but I have checked the RPC service and it is running.

The RPC service is probably never stopping - just a particular call that doesn't work - but there is a chance it could be crashing and then restarting almost immediately.

Check to see what the recovery options are on your PC. Could be service restart, PC restart, or several others.

If you don't see anything obvious in the event logs pointing to a specific problem and if moving the USB cable to the modem around doesn't help, try start, run, and on the run line
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    and OK.

Is this the same post your dad has over on hardware? Are you guys having a little contest?

Its not a contest but rather we are both posting independently on the same subject. Please ignore the posting in hardware for this problem.

    Thanks for your replies,
I loaded the nForce 5.10 drivers, and newer DSL drivers and everything seems to work fine now.
