I am currently using Earthlink e-mail and would like to transfer my messages and adddress book to Thunderbird. Does anyone know how to do this? I can't seem to find help for this on the Thunderbird website. Also, I can transfer files to OE first if that would help, but do not know how to do this either. Earthlink asks where to export the message to and I don't know where that would be.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

I was able to to forward my e-mail to OE by shutting down Earthlink, configuring OE, and then forwarding all my messages from Earthlink to OE. Now that they are in OE, if I do an import from Thunderbird, will the files transfer? and will Thunderbird take care of the mail settings? Right now when I go into Thunderbird, my Earthlink mail address shows as well as Earthlink as my outgoing server.

What I am doing is using a new ISP instead of Earthlink, but do not want to delete Earthlink right away until I am confortable with the new ISP (Toast). I would also like to transfer my files into Thunderbird first before I uninstall Earthlink, or should I uninstall Earthlink first?

    All help is greatly appreciated!

How about Tools|Import|Address Book or Mail|select Outlook Express?
You can do anything you want to Earthlink, once you have everything in OE.
I always set up my mail because I don't trust the transfers. So, you should be setting up your Toast account, and delete the Earthlink info. It is not that bad to set up. The only danger would be in having the transferred mail overwriting the present one. I think that the imported goes in a folder of its own.
