Most likely there is a conflict with something you have running in the background while trying to install this. Log in as administrator and try to install it. Make sure you have nothing not needed running in the background while you do the install. Many background tasks can interfere with proper installations particularly Virus Scanners.

---Updated after reading email request for instructions on how to login as Administrator---

How to log in as Administrator:
Do you know how to get the boot options by restarting and tapping the F8 key?

For xphome you have to F8 reboot in safemode. Administrator Account is used automatically while in safemode. May be easier to use startmenu> runline and type msconfig>click on the bootini tab and put a check in safeboot option. When done you have to use this same procedure to reverse safemode. Use the General Tab and put a tick in Normal Bootup.

    For xp pro:
Reboot on the login screen press keyboard key combo of ctrl alt and delete twice then from the login popup type Administrator and your password. If password is blank leave blank. (Does F8 safemode bootup automatically put Administrator on the choices for login users? Hmmm.. will have to refresh my own memory on this.)
NOTE:If using pro and you have installed xp tweakui there is an option to add Administrator to the login or welcome screen.

==Trying to eliminate the possibility that something is interfering with the install.==

A few other alternatives for doing this is:
While using your own account use right click on systray times and exit or disable what you can this way all others can be "endtask" by taskmanager(accessible by key combo of cntr/alt/del) but you need to what you can safely kill this way.

Could try msconfig and use selective startup to disable startups, reboot and hopefully you have stopped any installations buggers this way.

It has been suggested that one should make another user account that has full admin privileges and login on this account to do the install in a clean "uncluttered with startups" environment. I just thought logging in as Administrator would be less painful or more appealing to the lazy (such as myself).

Oppsy! Giving a kick to the top in case grans1 does not check back into this and misses the fact that I have updated my previous thread. I should have put that additional info in a new thread but didn't...shame on me! :)

    Shoot,
I was so hoping this was a conflict problem. That was the most factor and fix found when I was researching.

The other possibilities are not so easy. Could try this as quickie:
    >On the startmenu>runline
    >Type (or copy the bolded text and paste it to your runline)
Regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\Msxml2.dll and then press ENTER.
    >You should receive the following message:
    DllRegisterServer in C:\Windows\System32\Msxml2.dll DLL succeeded.
    >Click okay

Assemblys.....Lot's of references associating this with .NET Framework and suggestions of uninstalling it and installing a different version (if using 1.1 try 2.0 or vis versa). Do you have such a reference in your control panel add/remove software list? Personally if I had this, I would uninstall it and try the designpro install before reinstalling it.

    ------
You did make sure to uninstall any previous versions of this software you may have had before trying this install, didn't you?

What version is DesignPro and what resource are you using to install this (cd, download, software bundled with a printer etc.)

There is a free version of designpro 2000 Lite offered by Avery site. I downloaded and installed this just to see if there was any chance that I could reproduce your error (I knew it was small off-chance but worth a shot). Alas...installed without any problems:
    http://www.avery.co.uk/uk1/downloads/design2000basic.jsp

While it is lacking the clipart and some templates (I believe), hence the Lite qualifier it may be possible to load these later.

    I have a few more ideas I could toss around but I will wait to see what others can suggest the underlying cause of your first error ie;
Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.MSXML2,publicKeyToken=

You may want to peek into this:
    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/WinXP/Q_21154302.html

If time is not an issue, you could try getting help from those who should deffinitely know what the problem. Avery Support. There online help left a lot to be desired but perhaps the email or phone line support is better. Just a thought:
    http://www.avery.co.uk/uk1/support/support.jsp
If I had the code these guys were looking for my preemptive search may have been more fruitful. Perhaps you'll have better luck.

----Ignore this, it's for myself so I don't forget----
    Note to self:
Check into finding out what this is all about Microsoft's MSI cleanup tool

    Hi again grans1,
( "Downloading" and "Installing" are two different issues.)

    >What do you mean you finally got it to download?
    >Was this "free version" the version you were having the install problem with, or have you downloaded it as a workaround for what ever version you have?
    >Most importantly, have you finally gotten it to install without an error?
    >If so, any idea why you had the original problem (was this possibly caused by a buggy download the first time)?
    >What have you done that was different than you did before?
    >Did you need or use any of the fixes I had previously posted?

While your most welcome for the information that I have provided, I'm still left scratching my head wondering if you have this bugger installed and what you did that allowed you finally overcome your original errors... :)
