I just tried partitioning my hard drive with partition magic 5.0, but got a message saying ME is not supported-are there any other programmes that will let me partition with ME?

Try running PM5 and creating the rescue disks, then boot to the first disk and follow all further instructions. ;)

Partition Magic is far more reliable and safer if run from the DOS Rescue Disks it makes.

This goes for any version of PM or Windows.

Version 5 will work with any version of Windows if run from the floppys as Windows in then not involved.

After you get installed and make the disk it cna actuall be removed from the HD.

Unless you are using Magic Mover which I don't think is too reliable in ME.

Hello to everybody & a special HELLO to BB:)

"Partition Magic is far more reliable and safer if run from the DOS Rescue Disks it makes."

I'm sorry I have to desagree:) with BillyBob,but
PM5 MUST be run ONLY in DOS-otherwise you may get
a mess.If you have a logical partition on your HD(say it's [D:])you can make a PM5 resque disk there,so you can start easily PM5 in DOS and alsouse PM5(when you feel the need)as a boot manager. This is the way I have PM5 on my PCs :

-In a folder named P,I put the following files:

    MOUSE.COM
    AUTOEXEC.BAT
    PQ_DEBUG.TXT
    PQDATA.002
    PQMAGIC.EXE
    PQMAGIC.OVL
    PQTMP.FIL
    PQPB.RTC

    MSDOS.SYS
    IO.SYS
    CONFIG.SYS
    COMMAND.COM

-the last 4 files are copied from C:\
    -AUTOEXEC.BAT >make a new text file,copy&paste
the text below(as it is) at upper left corner:

    @ECHO OFF
    PROMPT $P$G

REM Put Network or CD-ROM drivers here.

    PQMAGIC

    then save it as A.BAT

    -usage:Start>Shut Down>MS-DOS Mode,type:

    C:\Windows>cd\
    C:\>d:
    D:\>cd p
    D:\P>a

Ity's much faster than floppy;you'll see how nice it works.

    regards

    Stefan
