I am having trouble formatting messages using Netscape 7.2 messenger. Sometimes it lets me change text color; sometimes it doesn't. It keeps changing the font choice and size. I have a large number of fonts on my computer. If I want to use Verdana, it takes forever to scroll down to it. In Word, the fonts you've used recently stay on top. What am I doing wrong? I have to write a large number of messages and it's getting very time consuming.

    rusty2,

Are you setting your font preference here:

Yes I am. It starts out using that font. I suspect part of the problem is that I copy and paste from Word documents. Also, I need to change the font of the signature file.

I wish we could specify the point size rather than smaller or larger. Some of the messages that look like Arial with 10 point type appear very small on the receiver's computer.

Also, sometimes there is wordwrap and sometimes not. Sometimes the lines are very long. Why is that?

I just started over retyping everything without copying and pasting from Word. Then I saved the message as a template. Most of the problems I mentioned before went away. I only wish I had done that days ago. When finished I sent the message to myself at another account to test it. My only question is why does the text appear gray when it was dark blue when composed?

As long as you are using HTML you will be able to make the changes which you wish.
Why gray background? It must be somewhere in the Prefs.
But, whaever you see may not be seen by the recipient, so the colors are largely eye candy.

    rusty2,

If you want the recipient to see your font and font color, etc., even though you are using HTML to send your message, you must insert the HTML code:

    <font= "yourfontchoice "><font color= "blue ">

Insert the code by clicking on "Insert" then type in the code.

One thing to keep in mind, is that if the recipient doesn't have the font you select, then they won't see what you selected...

For color codes see this page:
    http://htmlgoodies.earthweb.com/tutors/colors.html

If you wanted to use Crimson for your font color then you would type the code like so: <font color= "DC143C ">

You can still use a Template for the HTML codes, in order not to have to insert the codes each time you send a message. You could create separate Templates for different fonts and font colors.
