I had the same problem with Windows ME. I thought installing 2000 would eliminate the problem, it didn't. If freezes while it's booting, it freezes while it's idle, it freezes while running an application; there's no ryhme or reason. Any ideas? Maybe the video card? I've already changed out the memory without success. Thanks.

    Hi DM3557
    Welcome to the boards!
Can you give us a little more info please? What are your system specs? What version of IE are you running? Have your done a recent and updated virus scan? Have you scanned your system for spyware?

    Thanks for the welcome Daizy!
    This is the setup:
    FIC-AZ11EA Motherboard
    1.4GHz AMD T-Bird
    1.5GB Micron PC133
    Abit Siluro GF2 T400 MX400 64MB AGP
    40GB Maxtor HD
    HSP 56K Modem
    Realtek 10/100Mps NIC

This is all happening after a clean install. I was having a similar problem in ME, so I figured I would format NTFS and install 2000 and it would eliminate the problem. But it has seemed to freeze more frequently. I updated the video driver, thinking that may be causing it to freeze, but it didn't make a difference. I believe it still has IE 5.0 but I'm not totally sure. (I'm using my main computer to post which runs great with XP!)

Just a thought but excess heat will do this sort of thing. Maybe a burned out fan, too few fans, to tight a space so not enough air flow, etc.

You might try removing the cover from it, pointing a small fan at it, and running. If your problem goes away, it is for sure heat.
