Denied access to network printer when logged in as local admin.

I have a Win 2K Pro machine on an NT4 network. When I log on to the machine as local administrator I want to set up a default network printer for all users of the machine. Problem is when I map to the server (\\server_name\print_queue) I get an "Access Denied" message and cannot set up the printer. If I use a domain login I can set up the printer just fine. There are about 15 people who are using this machine. Do I have to set up the printer for each of them? I read about KIXSTART and login scripts but am not familiar with how to use this or if we even have this application. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

 

You can add your domain account to the local administrators group (using computer management in admin tools) then, logged in with the domain account, install the printer using the Add Printer wizard:

Choose Local Printer (uncheck Plug and Play detection)
Create a new port and select Local Port as type
For port name enter \\server_name\print_queue
etc.

Or use rundll32 (requires admin rights).
