Finally took the plunge and bought a 19" LCD Samsung Monitor. Looks really good even without installing the drivers. Trying to decide if I should now install the drivers. Any input would be appreciated.

P.S. What's the real deal on Video/Graphics Cards? I have an AGP 4x - 32MB NVIDIA GeForce2 MX. Will I see an appreciable difference upgrading to at least a 128 MB Video Card (AGP 4x)?

    Hi Ace,

I thought you were going to say that it "looks really good without even turning it on" :D.

I have not had much to do with LCD, so you can ignore this if you want. If you like how it looks now, you could just leave it running the standard drivers. If you notice something a little "off ", then try installing them. If you don't like it when you have them installed you could easily remove them in Device Manager and set them back to standard.

The "bigger" graphics card will be able to run more graphics intense programs...eg., 3D games. Have a look at the "system requirements" of the programs/games that you run - intend to run. There are usually minimum system requirements and recommended system requirements. If your system is just over the minimum system requirements for your favourite programs you should see quite a benefit from a new card. If your system generally meets the recommended system requirements, you probably won't see any change. In the latter case you would be better off waiting till you really needed a new card...then the price will have come down (and you could afford something even better than what you could get now).

    Matt

Sorry, my goof - thats the one I had in mind. Too many things to remember and just one little brain to fit it all in. Very nice monitor. Definately install the software. Its little brother 712N is similarly, a geat buy.

    ;)
