    Hey,

I currently use a SoundBlaster Live sound card and whenever i go to install it so i can use my speakers and finish rebooting, my computer goes wacko on boot. It takes about 3 mins for the desktop picture to appear, takes about another 5 minutes to load my icons and under taskmanager there are no names like System and Brian. This only happens after i reboot. can anyone help?

    Brian,
Currently using? or Currently trying to install? As in, has the card been installed in this machine previously and worked? Or are you now trying to install it for 1st time?
    What vers of Windows ?

Yeah, i have been using it before and it has worked. I think it stopped working after i installed Service Pack 2. I'm using Windows XP with Service Pack 2. This sound card has worked before and has never given me a hard time.

    Thank you for the reply

Hey Brian, at this point I would recommend reading the uninstall-reinstall info for
    Soundblaster here Uninstall-Install

Also here should be the latest drivers Latest Drivers

Haven't tried this, but seems it has worked for several people, Creative's AutoUpdate
    AutoUpdate

Note: there are many different "Live" cards. Live 5.1, Live, Live Value, etc, select the one that you have when using the above links. Hope this helps, let us Know if it works or doesn't, Joe.

Okay, this is weird but whatever. I went to the creative site and i downloaded the Application and the driver. I rebooted after each installation. After the second reboot i noticed that nothing worked. I tried tweaking everything. Before everything, i created a restore point because when i usually install my sound card, everything goes wacko, and i restored. After i restored, it said it found my soundcard and installed it. NO CD NOR DRIVERS.Oh, and i uninstalled my soundcard before i restored. And now, my speakers work. I'm not complaining but what happened? Lol.

You either have Creative's or Microsoft's driver. They are both signed, so Windows could have installed either one! In any case, don't you miss all the neat stuff like AdvancedEQ, Soundfont control, etc? If you don't and all your sound is working satisfactoraly (you probably won't get more than 2 speakers to work with 2 channel sources), then leave it alone. If you want all that stuff, you'll be in for some fun! Very complicated Creative software is. Thank you Yoda, for teaching me Engish.
