How do I find out what IRQs are conflicting. I've disabled (in this profile) all that have the yellow explanation mark and still have a problem with a pci to scsi card to a Umax scanner. I'm running a duel boot 98se and XP. The scanner will work with the built in program of XP but that's all. The Twain program I like will only work in 95 and 98, but I can't resolve the sharing conflict. I did have it working about a year ago, but can't remember what I did to get it working. I do remember working on it for a long time and it just started and wasn't sure what I did. Any help greatly appreciated.

    Baldy,

    Go to
    My Computer
    Properties
    Device manager tab
    rt-clk computer
    properties

interrupt request should be chosen (choose it if it isn't)
Here you can see all the IRQs andwhether there's any apparent conflicts. That should tell you what to look for in device manager.
    Good luck!

Thanks, but that gives me the same info as running "msinfo32 ". I'm begaining to believe that the conflict may be with "creative SB Live ". If I check "disable in this Profile" will that release the conflict? And can I reinable it by checking "inable in this profile" with out reloading the whole program or drivers?

Now that's another question :D If you can see the card in device manager, right-click it and click properties and the resources tab to see the IRQ it's using. Then check in the window we went to before and see what's using the same IRQ; then back in device manager, see if you can change the IRQ of the conflicting hardware.

I'm not sure if you can disable a program in a profile, never ran into this problem. If you can, I'd be surprised if you had to reload it when enableing it.

Suggest you look at this M$ article, especially the header "Resource Conflicts ". Then post more questions if you wish.

Thank, I went throught the article, but couldn't find what is conflicting. In the box it said "No Conflict ", yet above it said there is a sharring conflict and driver or device has to be disabled. I'm out of reserve resources. Some on the IRQ 11 (the one I need freed up) are duplicated like "ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering ". That one is listed 3 times. Other duplicates are "VIA Tech 3038 PCI to USB Universal Host Controller and NEC USB Open Host Controller ". Don't know if these multipule listings are normal or not. If I ever find out where the problem is I'll try and drop you a note.
