My friend has WinME on an a computer with 4GHz HDD and 32MB of RAM. When she tries to download updates for the MS site she gets a Low Memory message. She told me the system says she only used 800MB. The problem is she can't afford a larger HDD or RAM at this time. Is there any way to get the machine to at least download the updates she needs?

Probably not. Depending on what she is trying to download.

For example, Windows Media Player 7 (& beyond) will require a 64MB RAM system as minimum.

I thought that was what the problem was. She called right after trying to download WMP. WMP didn't finish downloading and is still listed as an available download on the update site. She told me now the machine is running very slow since trying to download WMP and she is unable to finish downloading 5 remaining security updates. Any suggestions will be greatly accepted.

Delete all files and folders in the C:\Windows\Temp folder, empty the IE temp folder, be sure to check the box for Offline Content.
Reset the size of the System Restore folder, to about 5%.
    Empty the Recycle Bin.
