I recently noted that I have a file or folder that is 48 MB huge and it is called a .dmp file. I believe that file contains errors, etc.

so, what happens if I clear it?

And, I also noticed that I have a jillion MS update files. Same question!

USER.DMP, MEMORY.DMP and c:\windows\minidump\#######.dmp files are 'post mortem' debug dump files. They are generated by the system after a bluescreen or a DrWatson error. They do not contain anything that your system needs to run, they are only for 'after death' debug analysis to determine why it crashed. Nuke it.

Ill need some specific names and locations before i tell you what to do with the update files. They may be uninstall information that the system needs.

You are correct re the MS files ...

They all seem to be uninstall files, about 15 of them

Moreover, I found a folder in Programs Files, Called Save. It seems to have a .exe file and support files in it. I do not know where it came from and I cannot delete it, at least at this point. (the "in use." malarky.) Must be some way to dump this junk.

MoveOnBoot will for sure get rid of them. Just make sure they should go away because this app doesn't care. It just flags them and at next boot, poof.

I had a damaged pagefile that didn't want to leave by any normal means. Poof.
