    Hi:

Now what have I done ?
Must have clicked when I shouldn't have.

    Anyhow, here is the problem:

All my incoming mail goes to the "Deleted Items" folder.

Up until today it has been put in the "Inbox" folder.

What do I do to fix this ?

And I'm wondering - Why does Microsoft make it so simple for an old person
like me to make a mistake ? Yet to get a solution from them is all but impossible.

Don't think it is anything that you have done :) Maybe some corruption in one of the store files or an overload - i.e. some of your store folders are too large.

    First ....

Make a new folder in OE - right click Local Folders > New Folder and name it Temp Store - or something similar.

Move all the messages you wish to retain from the Inbox and Deleted Items folder into this folder by dragging from one folder to the new folder.

    Then ....

Tools > Options > Maintenance > Clean Up Now > Compact

    Then ....

Tools > Options > Maintenance > Store Folder - note the location of your Store Folder.

Shut down OE and navigate in Windows Explorer to that location where you should see Inbox.dbx and Deleted Items.dbx amongst a bunch of *.dbx files.

Delete Inbox.dbx and Deleted Items.dbx - they will be recreated when OE is next started.

Start OE and send yourself an email which should be delivered to the Inbox of course.

If the problem is resolved move your messages from the Temp Store folder you made into the Inbox. Delete the Temp Store folder - right click > delete.

If the problem remains, post back.

How about message rules? Do you have any? In OE, click tools>message rules>mail.

    It works !

    Thanks

All is now going to the inbox.

However, it took both suggestions to accomplish the task.

When we did the first - we got incoming mail ok.
But, mail to myself went to delete.

Then we checked, and my own address was on the "block" list.

    Everything ok now.
