I have a folder on my desktop which I cannot remove/delete. I cannot recall where it came from. If I try to remove/delete/send to recycle bin I get message "Cannot delete - cannot find the specified file ". Can anyone help? Thanks. Seamus Halford.

What is the name of the folder? Did you try to delete it from Explorer?

Yes, tried everything. Just now solved the problem by using System Restore to a much earlier date. Many Thanks for your help and advice Rockit and Ackerberg.

Seamus, it would be nice to know what caused this problem since I have never had a problem deleting a file. Do you know why this happened and why going back to an earlier system restore fixed it?

    Delete that folder...!!!

...have you tried right-clicking on the folder and change the "Properties" general attributes to something other than what it is and then try to delete it? If that doesn't work, start the computer in "Safe" mode (without networking) and I'll bet $100.00 you can then delete it.
