My Excel Spreadsheets that I saved are opening up very slowly. They were opening ok, but all of a sudden it takes about a 40 to 50 seconds then it will finally open.

I can open up Excel and enter all my which will open fine. But when I save my file, and click on the Excel icon, then that is when I can go get a cup of coffee as so to speak.

Can someone give me something that I may check or try. I have Window XP Excel 2003

    Thanks

It sounds like it might be an association problem. Right-click one of the files you created and select "Properties." See what it lists for the program to open the file with. Change as needed.

    It's the anti virus software.

You can probably look at the bottom of Excell and it will say scanning for virus.

To prove the point turn off auto protect.
