I was trying to create a bootable winxp pro sp2 cd by using the slipstreaming method. When in cmd.exe and at the C:\ prompt I typed in \sp2\WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU /integrate:c:\xp. So I can integrate i386 and xpsp2. I'll get the dialog box showing the progress bar and files being moved. That will complete then I'll get another dialog box with a big red x in it with following message: Setup Failed to copy some or all of the files necessary for integrated install. Please check that: a) No network or copy errors occurred during integration process. b)The format of the deatination directory is correct. The files to be integrated must reside in an i386 folder and/or ia64 or nec98 directory. (ie for an i386 share if you typed update "/s:c:\adshare ", the files must be in the c:\adshare\i386 directory. Is there something that I am doing wrong, if so what is it and how do I accomplish this correctly and create a Bootable XP SP2 CD?

Is the SP2 update file located in a folder called SP2? If so, you have to first change directories and then type the command. So, at the c: command prompt, assuming your SP2 file is located in c:\SP2, type the following line followed by the enter key.

    cd sp2

The command prompt should change to this.

    c:\sp2>

Then type the rest of the command.

    WindowsXP-KB835935-SP2-ENU /integrate:c:\xp

Don't put a \ in front of the line. Just type it as I have it above.

I got the same message that I originally posted. Could I be trying to integrate the wrong the folder. I tried again now I got the Service Pack 2 Setup dialog box. It looks like it has something to do with help because it a list available switches. On the list it shows /help Shows this screen. This is the second time I have seen this dialog box.

It's kind of hard to say just what's going wrong without knowing just where you have placed everything. So..... what folder is the SP2 file in? Also, what folder is the XP cd located in? We need the entire path to both folders. Did you copy the entire cd, folders and all? You need to copy it just as it is on the cd. When you're done copying the cd to the folder the contents of the folder on your hard drive should look exactly the same as the contents of the XP cd. Don't know which guide you're using to do this so, maybe you can have a look at this one and see if it helps.

Slipstreaming Windows XP Service Pack 2 and Create Bootable CD

Also, somebody on this board posted a link to a program a while back that would do it all for you. I don't remember who it was but I'll search the board and see if I can come up with it or maybe somebody else that has it will see this and post the link. Keep at it and you'll get it done sooner or later. :)

Got it to integrate. Now to figure how to burn bootable CD using Easy CD Creator. I'll reread the ECDC manual and see if I can figure it out. In the meantime if there are any ECDC gurus out there any assistance will greatly appreciated. Thanks helping me up to this point. I'll check back for any updated ECDC info.

Will these ECDC instructions work with an Full OEM Version of XP Pro. Because I noticed that the instructions only refer to the Volume Label WXPFPP_EN as the name of the retail version of XO Pro but no reference is made to an OEM version. If these instructions do work with the OEM version. Is the Volume Label the same name as the retail version name or is it different? If it is different where would I find the Volume Label on the OEM version CD or can I find it in the registry?

Yes, it'll work for you. You can change the volume label to the same as yours if you like. To get the volume label of yours, put your XP cd in the drive, open my computer and look at the drive. You should see the label there. Have a look at the pics I attached. Depending on how you've got it set up it should look something like one of them. I use list for the view and don't remember what the default is. In any case, I think you'll get the idea.

All went well. It boots the system just like the original XP-CD. Thanks for all your assistance.
