    HELP

    Can someone please HELP

I have recently downloaded a game of gamespy.com, the game itself did not work on my computer ? so i deleted it. then i found that all my graphics for files and folders are missing, i am talking about the default graphics.

ALL folders and harddrives, diskdrive and cd rom icon graphics are now a piece a paper with the right top corner folded and a windows box inside of it.

Can anyone HELP as i can not find a solution to restore them.

p.s. i do not want to reinstall windows, have to much stuff on the computer to back up

    Thank You
    Tarek

I'm surprised that nobody has bothered to correct the information on that link Pam. That info doesn't apply to XP since it has no SHELLICONCACHE file. What it has instead is a file called iconcache.db. There will be a copy for each user ID. The process now becomes:

Run a search for iconcache.db and when found, delete ALL copies. Reboot.

    Cheers.

BTW Tarek, If the above doesn't fix your troubles, open a command session and type assoc.Lnk=Lnkfile (enter) and that may fix it.

Thanks surferdude, I just figured that out when I went to look for that file on my system. Deleting iconcache.db should do the trick!

    :)

Perhaps we should tell old Wayne about that since he offers a poll menu to rate his info. No doubt the 2.1 rating was from Win9x users.

Now doesn't that just make you wonder about some of those answers out there?

I see it's went down to 2.0 so you must have voted. I did too and it went to 1.9 now. ;)

    Icons & graphics...!!!

anywhere there is a missing icon or graphic, locate the folder it came from...or better yet, download "Undelete" from Executive Software: Undelete 4.0 ---- you might be able to find the missing files deleted from your hard-drive --- they may still be in your Recycle Bin...copy them from someone elses computer if you need to...
