I meant degrees on the compass, not degrees fahrenheit. th output image is slanted at 35 degrees snd id sccordingly unusable.

I'm frustrated. Hasn't anyone ever experienced this problem? There must be a simple fix, and I would appreciate some advice.

its a strange problem but have you checked in the software you use for a default setting or something? does not sound like hardware.

Does your preview pane show the subject at 45 degrees?

I'm not familiar with HP--I use Epson-- but there should be an option for rotating the picture or setting it for landscape or portrait.

Have you tried uninstall and reinstall the scanner software?

Take a nice slow tour through your options or preferences and try changing and changing back some of them. Especially the ones having to do with rotating the page.

Thanks, Bill. So far, you are the only one who tried to help me. I was hoping to avoid uninstall/reinstall, but guess I'm stuck with it. Thanks!!

It would probably be called orentation in the settings.
I new you could rotate but not 45 degrees.

Run the scanner through a cycle with the lid open and make sure the drive system is not tilting the reader head because of a broken drive system.
