    Hoping this is correct forum.
Running Win2K on a Gateway 1.4 GHtz system.
Except for the occasional hangup, the system seems to run ok and commo is ok.
    Using broadband from comcast.net.

However, going through and checking the device manager i see a question mark and an
    exclamation point for the following:

    CP>System>Hardware>Device Manager>Question Mark, Other devices>QuestionMark, Exclamation Mark PCI Device>
    Properties>General = PCI bus 0, device 31, function 3
    Driver = unknown
    Resources= I/O Range EFA0 - EFAF
    Interrupt Request 10

    EVEREST shows IRQ 10 as:
    [ Other devices / PCI Device ]

    Device Resources:
    IRQ 10
    Port EFA0-EFAF

    [ Ports (COM & LPT) / Communications Port (COM1) ]
    Device Properties:
    Driver Description Communications Port (COM1)
    Driver Date 11/14/1999
    Driver Version 5.0.2183.1
    Driver Provider Microsoft
    INF File msports.inf
    Hardware ID ACPI\PNP0501

Shows as: PNP0501 16550A-compatible UART Serial Port
    Port EFA0-EFAF Undetermined PCI Device
    pci bus 0 device 31 function 3

    SMBus Controller
    Bus 0, Device 31, Function 3 Intel 82801BA(M) ICH2 - SMBus Controller [B-1]

Searches here turned up nothing definitive.
Trying to resolve this "Unknown Device ".

    Any ideas, anyone?
    thanks,
    savagcl

    hi savagcl

    hope i can assit you

this means there is a PCI card installed in the PC for which the drivers have not been configured correctly
first Identify the card causing the problem and do a Driver Update
if that fails delete the device in System Manager and re-boot PC
Th PC will rellocate the card and wiil propably ask you to update drivers

These days PCs comes with built in LAN CARD ..are u on a network??

    Good luck
