I bought a 512 mb module for my 2350 about 6 mos ago and haven't put it in yet. I just opened the instructions that came in the box and it was instructions for a laptop. The box does say 512ms for a d 2350. How difficult is this to install myself and what precautions should I take before attempting this, or should I have a computer tech install it. Also my unit needs to be cleaned, especially the fan, how should I go about doing this without damaging anything.

Installing RAM in a laptop isn't difficult, just follow the instructions.

You can vaccuum any open areas inside the case, avoiding the circuit boards. Pick up a can of air from any computer/electronics store and blow off the boards and fan.

Computer hardware is not hard to work on. Just go slow and use care. Unless you can afford to call a tech every time you have a problem, you may as well get your feet wet and do it yourself.

I might read there is some...errr...hesitation there. Do you have a desktop computer, rather than a laptop?

You only quote a model number, rather than manufacturer and the model number (OEM/proprietry brands require specific numbering).

Are you concerned that you have purchased the wrong type of RAM?

PS if you have the correct type of RAM, your motherboard manual should detail the installation, it should not be very difficult.

Make sure the power is OFF (unplugged!) and you're grounded by touching the metal case while you work.
