Just installed Net Framework 1.1 as a utility I wanted to install was calling for it.

Made sure to create a restore point before doing anything.

Net Framework 1.1 went on smoothly as did the paint utility did but when I restarted my system the welcome screen shows my user name in an icon which I have to click on to proceed?

This is a home use machine and I find it a real hassle -- tried going to Control Panel and User Settings but could not figure how to get back to a simple Welcome Screen that automatically then launched Windows XP?

For the time being I restored my system but would like to re-install Net Framework and the paint utility.

Any help sure would be appreciated.

Thanks so much for your quick reply.

I first of all preformed the start command you listed but when I restarted the system it came to "Starting Windows" and just hung there?

I got around this by re-starting in safe mode and re-checking the password box.

I have now installed Tweak UI and followed your instructions and now I don't get the nag button.

    Thanks Again

You're welcome. Though Home and Pro have the same "engine ", there are some subtle differences. Not knowing what those are in detail, I thought it best to post alternatives.

    Thanks for following up.
