Recently a friend of mine asked me a ? I had no idea how to answer. I figured I would ask someone who has more experience. My friend has computers in two different locations. He used to have them networked and operable. He had a cable connection and a dial-up I think. Recently he switched over to 1 cable and the other is now satellite. before everything was ok. Now he cant get his network to operate correctly. Basically he used this connection to turn the heat on in one house or the lights on etc.. I didnt get a lot of information from him as this was well out of my league. Any thoughts???? thanks

If his satellite internet connection is like ours, a lot of ports are blocked to preserve bandwidth over the satelitte link. I expect this is causing the problem.

I hope he has a personal firewall running on both PCs.
