    hi
tb 1.0 is based off of 1.7.5 gecko, and so is the recent suite-1.7.5.
however, tb1.0 has an interesting feature for dialup users: when we restrict size of POP3 emails to be downloaded, tb displays the original size of the message in the server. eg. if your server has a msg of 100 kb and you restrict your download size to 50kb, tb displays the size of the msg in the inbox as 100kb, while still not downloading the entire 100kb msg, so that we have an idea.
the sad part is that the suite 1.7.5 doesnot show this. rather, it displays the downloaded size of the msg - say - 3 kb or something, leaving us totally in the dark about the original size of the msg in the pop server.
any ideas on how to tweak suite 1.7.5 please? i am so much of a suite guy, and would appreciate any help.
    thanks.

    Suresh,
there is no reason why you can't show the size in Mozilla or Netscape7.x.
This feature was always available, but you have to select it. In Mail, where the accounts are listed, to the right of the headers there is an icon (an arrow down in the Skypilot them). Click on it, and you will get a selection, icluding message size.
You may have to drag the divider to the left.

    re: size in moz mail1.7.5

hi westside - thank you for a reply.

you are referring to enabling the displaying of the columns in the list pane of the mail, where we can select the receipient, sender, status... etc.

what i am referring to is the size of the POP3 message in the size column that has already been enabled as you suggest.

after enabling the display of the size column as you have said, the following is the difference:

tb 1.0 displays in the inbox the original size of the POP3 msg in the server while still downloading only the desired size as defined in the pref.

moz1.7.5 displays in the inbox only the downloaded size of the POP3 msg and not the original size of the msg in the server.

further still, suites 1.8x have this feature whilst suite 1.7.5 doesnot.

hope i have now clarified the problem. i know some folks will dismiss my wish request as asking for too much, but i believe Moz is an excellent piece of software that is extremely customizable and hence i am sticking to the suite.

i am desperately hunting for an answer. when contacted, moz folks, before even looking at my query, are asking me to go for a paid option, but i still have some optimizm left among the community, in line with the true open source spirit and the great piece of software that Moz is and hence this attempt.

any - any help would be appreciated.

I am sorry. you know more than I do. To me, it sounds like a technicality. I would have to make some changes in my preferences, and then wait for the messages to come, just to see the difference. I remember setting a limit, and I stopped doing it, when I could not get the full download. I would just increase the limit. I am sorry, I can't appreciate the significance of this, in view of the fact that changes are going to take place soon.
