I want to delete or reset the MS Word 2003 Most recently used file list, but I can't find it. I deleted every shortcut in my hidden "Recent" folder. I also deleted all the MRU entries out of the registry using an option in Lavasoft Adaware. But when I open MS Word 2003, the same file list is still there, so it must be stored somewhere else. Does anyone know where this list is stored and how I can reset or delete it? Thanks for any response.
(I also deleted Normal.dot but that didn't help either.)

    Roger,
    Try here... "C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Microsoft\Office\Recent ". HTH

    Roger,
Ignore my first suggestion  I tried a couple of different freeware utilities but none of them seemed to take care of Word's mru. This is kind of a pain but... delete the shortcuts out of the *recent* folder. Then in Word go to Tools, Options, click the General tab, remove the check from the "recently used" setting, click OK. I you turn the recently used list back on it's empty. :D I usually just leave mine turned off.

    reg:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data Settings
    files:
    %AppData%\Microsoft\Office\Recent

However, in wacking that key, you lose all your settings, too.

Thanks for your responses. The first and easiest suggestion worked for me. I simply disabled the "most recently used" list and then enabled it again, and this removed all the filenames in the list. That's what I wanted to do. However, this did NOT solve the original problem that I was trying to solve. Since I didn't mention the original problem initially, I started a new thread for it. I would appreciate any further comments on my original problem at:

Thanks !!! Maybe I should have asked my original problem first ???!!!
