Every time I copy files to the CD in Explorer it closes the cd so I cannot use that cd again. Any thoughts

Man I thought I would get a quick response on this. This is not a major problem just was wondering why it works this way. I cannot find much infor on copying files to a CDR on any of the docs. Nice forem by the way, hats off to the moderators.

The think what causes that problem is when you write music files to a data disk. Then it performs what is called a "closed session" operation and no further files can be added to that disk.

If I only copy data files, I am allowed to add individual files/folders anytime I want.

There may also be 3rd party software that allows more freedom and perhaps later someone will chime in with better guidance.

    good luck.

Well, I'm not talking about writting music files. I'm just talking about droping and draging data files. When I do this I get the another screen where I can do the file write to CD option. I never get asked if I want to close the session. The next time I try to put a file on the same CD, I get the message this CD is full or something like that. I normally use EZ CD creator anyway, so this is no big deal, but it would be a great feature if it worked correctly. There must me some kind of setting to not close the CD when you are finished. Thanks so much for your reply.

That's strange. I do know that some drives don't support multi-session recording. Have you ever been able to do multi on your present drive?

    xp cd record

I have found the built in cd recording feature of winxp to be quite lite weight, as many others have also. I never did get the darn thang to stay "open" for later sessions. With my old adaptec eccd 3.5 I could. Since Dec tho I & many others have just loaded either new Roxio or Nero to continue life normally. Microsoft has a patch on site tho that claims a fix of sorts! Too late for me as I've adjusted to Neroville.
Ya can drag & drop tho in winxp with cd-r/w formated & locked. gbouten If you download & try the "Patch" will ya let us all know?
