    Have Moz 1.7.5 installed, along with Macromedia Flash, etc. BUT, Flash fails. Just sits there telling me to download Macro. Flash. When I click on the icon it goes to a Macro Flash page telling me it cannot determine just what I need and to check requirements. Obviously, that offers nothing.

    What do I need to get this Macromedia stuff working properly. I use only Moz. NOT IE -- in fact IE is disabled (removed?).

    Where do I start troublshooting this stuff?

    Well, I didn't give up -- It's work!!!

    Sorry about the false alarm. I tried removing the Flash program and reinstalling (for the leventy-teenth time!) and found that I still had Webwasher (ad cutter-outer) still on. Shut that off and it appears the thing is working. Have to check some other pages before I'm absolutely sure.

    I killed Webwasher before this and no luck. Who knows what is actually going on???

    Stay tuned,
    Bob :confused:

    I cannot tell you if this was a widespread problem, but I found that only Flash7.0 did not place the necessary npswf32.dll in the plugins folder. I could not find anything in any installed folder, except for one, which I don't who is the owner.
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\csshare\plugins0942
    I did a search, and then copied/pasted in the plugins folder of the desired program.

    Thanks

    :) All seems to be working well -- still have no clue why it suddenly began working (gremlins in my computer?). Tried few other web sites that use Flash stuff and all seems OK. Just have to kill the WebWasher.

    Thanks for the response, I checked and that plugin is in the proper plugin folder. Couldn't find anything in the Windows\Common Files . . . that related to plugins (??). Guess, sometimes, we just have to accept things on faith.

    Here is your owner:

    Additional Registry Information

    Applicable only to CompuServe 7.0 and other AOL browsers currently in beta only:

    Certain other keys may be of use to plugin vendors, but these keys are written mainly by CompuServe and other browsers by AOL (based on Mozilla) which are only in beta currently. These keys are discussed in Bug 109402, Comment 8.

    We can use CompuServe 7.0 as an example of these additional keys. Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Mozilla\CompuServe 7.0 you'll find:

    * "Plugins Folders "= "C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\csshare\\plugins0942 ".
    * "Product "= "CompuServe "
    * "Version "= "7.0 "
    * "DisplayName "= "CompuServe 7.0 "

    The Product, Version, and DisplayName string values are currently only written by CompuServe 7.0, and they are written alongside the GeckoVer string value.

    Ramona :)

    Ramona,
    I thought that the folder has to do with AOL or Compuserve. I had a two months trial subscription to Compuserve, and 0.9.4.2 stands for the Mozilla on which Compuserve7.0 is based, i.e something something similar to NS 6.2.2.
    I would have never known what it was about, because the properties of the plugin do not indicate an owner. But there is a Sounds folder, which is all Compuserve stuff.
    The fact remains that Flash does not seem to place the .dll file in all programs, although it is listed to do it. The sign is when I have the Prefbar in Firefox, and Flash is unchecked. But as soon as I paste in the FF plugin folder the same file which I copied from the NS7.2 plugins folder, that box becomes checked.
    Whether Compuserve is present or not, the css folder is updated with each installation. For instance, I did not have flash 7 installed when I had Compuserve, but the folder is up to date.
    Thank you for the explanation, but the css folder should not have anything to do with the misbehavior in some case.
