    Dear Friends

I have changed my computer and when I plug the cable into the NIC Card and type "Ipconfig /all" or "ipconfig /renew" , i get a message which says "cannot contact DHCP server" or "cannot obtain IP Address from DHCP server ". If I switch the connection back to my old computer, everything works fine. However the new computer with XP cannot get on internet anymore. Can you please help ?

    Regards
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran and welcome.

Assuming your NIC is set to automatically obtain an address, what address and subnet mask do you get?

If it's a 169.x.x.x address with a 255.255.0.0 netmask, you have one problem and if it's blank or 0.0.0.0 you have quite another so we need the details.
