Since I am trying to tweak my 7.2 Netscape, I wonder if there is a way to rid myself of the little yellow AIM icon that sits in the group of Netscape icons on the left side of the screen at the bottom. I don't use AIM or any chat program so don't need it there and it annoys me . :D I know you could get rid of it in earlier versions, but that same tweak did not work this time when I tried it last night or either I did something wrong. Anyway, is there a old or new hack to get rid of the AIM icon and make it go away? TIA.

I don't know how to make just the AOL icon go away but you can turn that toolbar off totaly by clicking View, Show/Hide & unchecking the component bar. See screen shot

    Vanilla Ice,

To remove the AIM icon from the Component Toolbar:

    Enable Software Installation in Preferences
    Install Mnenhy 0.2
    http://mnenhy.mozdev.org/installation.html#mnenhy02

    Restart Netscape
Uncheck AIM under Known Chrome Packages, in the Chrome Manager.

Access the Chrome Manager by clicking on:
    Edit | Preferences | Mnenhy

    Thanks Ramona

I wasn't aware that it was possible to just remove the AOL icon. Good information, thanks again :D

Thanks BearNunya, for the help. If Ramona had not posted a permanent fix I would have used your advice.

Ramona, Thanks much for your quick response. Did it as per your instructions and it worked like a charm. No more annoying AIM icon. :D
    You are very smart :)
