okay, i know this sounds like the same old question, but its a new one to me.

I have the normal system volume directory on root of C:, but i used to have my hdd partitioned into two (for backup purposes as i reinstalled windows). Using partition magic 8, i merged the two into a directory. Now all my movies were backed up and in the merging process i put them into c:\movies. Now i have removed all files and put them into my documents. Unfortunatly i have the movies directory on C:\ still and it will not delete as there is a system volume directory in it. please help! how do i delete it? i have tried using command prompt in safe mode, tried doing it with explorer closed, and i have tried using a boot disk.

The movies directory is fully usable, but access is denied to the system folder.

    HElP!!!!!

    Rico2k_uk - Welcome to the Board :)

Each drive be it a single physical drive or a partition has a System Volume Information folder which contains among other things the info for System Restore on that drive/partition.

In your case you have merged two partitions so the System Volume information folder from the second partition has been copied to the folder you specified on the combined partition. It is now useless and can be deleted ...

    For some info see .....

Try this from a command prompt:

    cacls "C:\movies\System Volume Information" /E /G username:F

substituting your id for "username "

That should grant you full access to the folder. Try deleting it.
