I'm at my wits end with MSN Messenger and Netscape. I get a lot of problems with it, especially when
accessing my MSN mail and clicking on my hot mail. I'm just going to put in numerous
    error messages:
    1. Netscape is unable to locate the server %Emsn%2ECOM.
    2. When I right click on the MSN Messenger, blue guy in the task bar for my hot
mail, I get this error, in the box it says, "the
operation could not be completed because a default web browser could not be
found. Please ensure that you have a web browser
and it is set to be the default web browser." On the actual screen, it reads Pragma:
    n. Sometimes it will read the same, but with
    Pragma: no.
    3. Netscape is unable to find the file or directory /C|/ Windows/temp/sfd7171.htm.
    4. Here is the message I get when I click on to submit my help letter to MSN on
    their site: Unregistered Eform source.
    DCOPS tracking code : E234GH216.76.156.16122222U
    5. Unknown status reply from server:1! (this one is all the time while surfing). The
message is in a box and there's a yellow triangle with an ! mark.

Can't use the voice or file transfer in Messenger unless I close my firewall, ZoneAlarm Pro 3.0. Trying to speak with someone using XP is impossible. I used to able to open certain ports, but not with the newest version of MSN.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Since you're not getting any hits in this forum, let's try the Netscape Forum.

I did see Sue's post on Kevin's Other Internet Software Forum. I sent her a personal message , as this issue was pretty well covered here:
    http://www.windowsbbs.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3982

This is the information I sent Sue:
Well, I hate unresolved issues, and even though I am not convinced this is a Netscape problem, have done some more research. Here are some of the results from various sources:

    http://messenger.msn.com/support/knownissues.asp

In order for you to access your MSN Hotmail® e- mail, you need to enable scripting support in your browser. In Microsoft® Internet Explorer, you can do this on the Security tab of the Internet Options dialog box; in Netscape Navigator, you can enable scripting support in the Preferences dialog box of version 4.0.

If you expect Netscape to talk to your server, your server must adhere to the HTTP spec. That's what standards are for.

ON a lower than high security setting it may work - but I don't think high security in ZA and Messenger audio/video can be made to work. I believe Zone Alarm Pro 3.x will permit Messenger audio/video to function if all ports are specifically allowed for Messenger. I personally have abandoned ZA and use TPF ( www.tinysoftware.com). -- Brian Sullivan - MVP

I can't get my firewall connections setup to allow video conferencing on 4.6. I'm running XP Pro connecting via DSL (Pipex in the UK). I am given the same IP whenever I login. I am not using any third party firewall. The problem is that video works when I switch off the XP firewall but does not connect successfully when I switch it back on. As per http://messenger.jonathankay.com/problem.aspx?ID=16, I have added the relevant entries to the advanced section in my connection properties but with no success. Any help much appreciated (this is getting very frustrating indeed). Thanks

The firewall is not the problem. Your dsl isp is providing a NATed connection via your "modem" -- the only way that Messenger audio/video works through a NAT is if the NAT supports UPnP NAT traversal -- yours does not.
