    I would like to partition a usb pen drive, but have never partitioned anything before. I am wondering if there is freeware out there somewhere that can do this. I am running Windows XP and have NO money to spend.

    Type or paste
    %windir%\hh.exe ms-its:C:\WINDOWS\Help\ntcmds.chm::/ntcmds.htm
    in a Run window and browse to DiskPart.

    (That's all one line, no spaces.)

    every time i attempt to sellect my usb drive, an error occurs. This is what i type and the programs responce:
    "DISKPART> select disk 1

    The disk you specified is not valid.
    There is no disk selected.
    "
    My usb disk is disk 1, volume K, named KINGSTON, and it is a Kingston data traveler USB 2.O compatable, advertised as 128, its actually 123, formated as FAT32. It is also online according to the Disk Management.

    Then I would say the drive cannot be divided into partitions. 128 megs isn't really fair game for partitioning anyway.

    Consider creating folders instead. Think of them as expanding partitions. :)
