Is there any place within IE (which comes with Sp2) to lock the home page so it's not hijacked?

I have Ad Aware, Spybot S&D and SpywareBlaster all installed.

You got any idea what's changing it ?

Spybot letting it change without prompting you ?

I use spybot 1.3 it tells me EVERY time something wants to change.

    just an idea....

you using current antivirus ? maybe a type of dialer or something, even a java virus, had one, two weeks ago, kept attempting to change my IE settings.
(spybot didn't say why the settings were changing, so I did AVG antivirus scan, deleted files, no more problems).

Nothings has changed or tried to change my home page. I just wanted the added security of locking it.

Homepage Hijacking is a symptom of malware, and locking down IE's homepage will not prevent an infection. Browse www.helpwithwindows.com and read the stickys at the top of the Spyware and Virus Forum for more information on prevention and security.

If you share the computer with others, you should password protect your user profile, and maintain an appropriate security routine.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. As you can tell I was under the impression it would prevent an Internet hijacker from taking over the home page. Thanks again!

    Hi AceH,

One of the programs that Jim alluded to http://pjwalczak.com/spguard/index.php will warn you and while not stopping it, will revert back the home page either automatically (silently) or ask for the user to intervene. The second option is the one to use.

    Regards - Charles
