Repair Damaged MFT

I have 2 partitions with damanged MFT's
reformating the partitions is out of the question as i have important data on them

Can anyone recommend any programs that will either repair the MTF or allow me to move the files to another drive so i can reformat it

i already tried a program called Active@ File Recovery
this program was able to scan the drives and i found all my data
but when i tried to move them to another disk the program crashed

Do you have Symantec Ghost by any chance? If not, do you know anyone that you can borrow a Ghost boot floppy from? I have never had the chance to try it on a system with a corrupt MFT before. It would be interesting to see if it could image the drive data and allow for file level access to it later after doing a clean install.

Other than that all I have to offer is heresay advice since I have no personal experience along those lines. I have heard that EasyRecovery by Ontrack is the one to use.

 

I'll second the Ontrack software. quite spiffy and have used their services, both the software, and the inlab services to recover stuff.
