The sound card is integrated with the motherboard. I have installed the software and driver for the card, but there is still no sound device found error when I try to use the sound card. I can't see anything in the device manager relating to sound. Any thoughts???

    Merry X-Mas,

Have you checked the Bios to see if it's disabled?

No I haven't. I will add that to my check list when I go back to where the computer is located. Any other thoughts that I can add to my check list?

    Thanks

Do you know what motherboard you have exactly? Some machines need to have mainboard drivers installed before some hardware can be recognized or used. You may be missing a PCI to CPU bus driver, for example, or the default Windows' one is not good enough.

Are there any warnings in the Device Manager about any other devices?

Plus check to see if there is a conflict between the sound device and other devices.

    Hi,

If you are certain of the "model" of the soundcard (from the specifications at the motherboard manufacturers website or your manual) and you have run the correct driver installation program....run the Add New Hardware wizard in Control Panel. Windows may not even recognise it as a "soundcard ", so you may have to go to the "List" of devices and select your model. Hopefully, on reboot, Windows will detect it correctly and install all the drivers associated with it.

    Matt
