Suddenly after installing netscape 7.2, I'm getting a weird msg at some locations when trying to d/l. It goes through the process of asking to run or save. When I pick save it comes up with the location to save and then I get the following:

D:\download\filename could not be saved because you cannot change the contents of that folder.

Change the folder properies and try again, or try saving in a different location.

Of course, I can't save in any location, but I can go to the same site and save using internet explorer.

Never ran into this before using 7.2

    Any ideas?????????

Not the dreaded some locations! You probably got no answer because of that. If it is consistent, it is one thing, if not, who knows?
NS7.2 does not lock you in a specific folder, or drive, but this could happpen if you use the Download Manager. I never used it, because I have cable, and I don't care if a download goes awry. I can get back in and get it done, in no time, but, I believe you stuck with location. In fact later programs such as Firefox allow you to set and change the download folder.
I don't use the manager, but rather the Progress dialog, which allow you to change the location any time you want. I download to the Desktop if I don't need to save the file, or any of five or six folders of my choice.
So, try to change the manner of downloading. It may have been there by default. Edit|Preferences|Navigator|downloads
And, delete the names of all the downloads from your download manager. All they do is to clog the system, and then you can't do any more downloading.
There is fix for that, but let's not go into it,now.

I download into a special download directory. I also don't open the download manager, but use the progress bar.

I found by switching themes from classic to modern that I can d/l. But if I switch back to classic, it happens again.

Also, if I use my stardownloader program, it works.

SOOOOO, guess I'll just have to work around it unless someone can come with a brilliant idea of what is causing it..

    Thanks.
