I've installed SP2 on my 3 PCs, all running Win XP Pro, with no problems except this one. On one of the PCs, a Gateway 675XL laptop (Pentium 4/3.2 GHz, 768 MB RAM, over 40 GB free HD space), Internet Explorer refuses to remember my .NET e-mail address. It was saved correctly on this laptop before SP2 but not after. I've tried to set it to do an automatic .NET login (something I normally don't do) and it refuses to do that also. I've checked all the appropriate settings (e.g., cookies settings) and everything appears to be set correctly. I've also searched the web and haven't found any help. I'm an "advanced" user with almost 40 years of computer experience and pride myself on being able to fix almost any computer problem, but this one has me stumped. I suspect that there is a registry setting that isn't being reset correctly, but I haven't been able to find one. Although I don't see where it would matter, FWIW I have a DSL connection and am using Zone Alarm Pro, not the Win XP firewall. Has anyone else seen this, and if so were you able to fix it? Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

I may be misunderstanding the problem but I'll make a stab at it anyway. ;)

Assuming we're talking about your .net passport login, have you deleted the information for that account in Control Panel>User Accounts>select your user account>Manage my network passwords (left-hand pane) then re-created it?

I've had some success with that method when a user cannot logon to their .net passport.

I also found this on a .Net Passport support page for what it may be worth:

"I am not able to sign in to .NET Passport. What should I do?
If you are signed in to Instant Messenger or Hotmail, it can prevent you from signing in using a different .NET Passport. Sign out of Instant Messenger or Hotmail and make sure that you have not checked the Sign in Automatically option in either application. "

Thanks for the response, but I can log into my .NET account fine, it's just that IE doesn't save my e-mail address for the .NET login and it's a pain to type it in each time. The "Do Not Remember My e-mail Address ..." option is not checked on the .NET login screen, and FWIW I do not use Hotmail or IM.

    In regedit, go to
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa]
    "DisableDomainCreds "

If that Dword Value Data is 1, set it to 0 and see if it solves the problem.

The Dword Value Data was already set to 0, but I do appreciate the suggestion, and any others you may have! :)
