On a new installation (new motherboard, graphics, P4 2.80E processor and RAM) Windows XP Home Ed. (inclusive of SP2) installed without any hassle.

Unfortunately when the desktop appeared the only icon that shows is the 'RECYCLE BIN'

Normally I would get 'My Computer', 'My Network Places', 'MSN Explorer' 'My Documents' and 'Internet Explorer'.

Other than this the computer is working fine but not having the Desktop Icons is a bit of an inconvenience.

Any ideas on how to bring up the missing icons?

Would be appreciative of any help offered.

    Thanks

    Hello tokolosh!

Right-click on the desktop > choose Properties > Desktop > Customize > and check the appropriate boxes.

    Missing Desktop Items

Many thanks Christer - I guess I should have known the 'how to'. I suppose I needed a 'kick' start to get my brain working!
