I have 2 weird things happening with Netscape 7.2 that I need help with. The first is that the browser will not change the font colors on visited links. I have checked my Preferences settings and they look to be correct. This occurs on my home rig, running WinXP Pro. This does not happen on my work rig which runs Win2K . I double checked the settings and they are identical but it only works on my work pc and not on my home rig.

My second issue is that Netscape Mail will not save sent emails to the Sent folder. I checked the boxes for Place a copy in the Sent folder and clicked ok. When I went back to recheck the settings I found that the boxes were unchecked. Any box in the Copies and Folders window that I check magically unchecks itself when I go back to it. I can't seem to work out why this is happening.

I'm a newb to 7.2 so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Item is irrelevant, although some people reported. I never pay attention to the colors, and even if it did not work, it does not matter.
As for the Sent mail, can you send mail, and people receive it? You can test by sending an e-mail to yourself. I checked my 13 accounts, and only AOL does not have a sent folder of its own, so it is necessary to select Local folders(default) or another account. None of my other accounts misbehaved, including two of my Netscape Webmail accounts, which were not checked at all, but staid checked, after I did it.
I don't think that it has anything to do with anything else that I am aware of. But, if you use Norton Anti Virus, and scan your mail, all bets are off.
Check your settings for Outgoing (SMTP) mail.

Regarding visited links color - make sure that "history" is not set to "0 "

Thanks Capt, I had the history days set to 0 - D'oh!

As far as my mail account, I can send and receive mail fine and my account contains a Sent folder. It's just that the option to save a copy of sent mail will not stay checked when I select it. I do use Norton AV and it scans my mail but I have never had a problem sending or receiving mail using it.

Well, I never paid attention to colors. That does not tell me very much. But, what do you know? My History is also set to 0. That can have other ill effects, such as using the back arrow. But, I never had a problem there.
As for the sent mail, if I am not mistaken, it goes through a smtp of its own, so you can check if there is another SMTP with the Norton or Symantec name.
But, it is a fact that Norton AV can create problems. See what is the SMTP you are using in Server settings|Advanced.
I found this discussion about Norton . I don't know if it applies to you in any way.

Well, I rechecked my SMTP settings and I only have one listed. One other thing I noticed is that in the Copies and Folders window of Mail and Newsgroups Account Settings not only can I not keep the Sent Mail option checked but also the Drafts and Templates options will not remain checked. I wonder if this is a result of my removing the "Local Folders" account from the Mail program. This might have had an adverse effect on the other folders, such as Sent Mail, Drafts and Templates. I'll have to do some more playing around with this and see what I can find out. I still don't think it's Norton's related but I could be wrong. Thanks for the info.

*EDIT* I backed up my original prefs.js file and now the sent mail and other folder options work correctly. Removing the Local Folders account somehow messed up this feature. That's what I get for tinkering with stuff! Thanks for your help. :)
