Occassionally I would look at the windows prefetch folder and delete the files.
Now the prefetch folder is always empty. Where did they go?

    Take a look in
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management\PrefetchParameters
    at the EnablePrefetcher key.

    If the value is
    0 Prefetch is disabled
    1 Application Launch Prefetch only
    2 Boot Prefetch only
    3 It is Prefetching everything

Registry setting for enablePrefetcher was 3. Task scheduler was not running so I started it. The Prefecth items are showing again. Funny tho, I have a laptop besides my desktop and the Task scheduler is not started on the laptop yet the Prefecther works fine. Who cares I got it back on my desktop.
    Thanks for the assistance.
