I just downloaded version 1.0 My new bookmarks will be completely deleted once I close the browser. I can import bookmarks from IE or the previous Mozilla, but I have the same problem, that they will be deleted once I close the browser. In other words bookmarked urls and imported bookmarks will only be available there as long as I do not close Mozilla. Any suggestions?
    Thanks, Knowland

I don't understand why your bookmarks will be deleted if you close the browser. What makes you say that?

I posted before, but the post got lost. In essence, I wanted to know if you mean Mozilla Firefox, as you have in the title, or Mozilla, as you have in the text.
If you mean Mozilla, you must have its profile, with a, presumably, good bookmark file, in its profile. Take note of the profile location
If you right click|copy the Mozilla file its from its profile, and right click|copy in the Firefox profile, you will be able to replace the existing bad file.

    Hi Knowland,

    Welcome to the BBS.

I can't think of any reason why you should lose your bookmarks when you close Firefox, but I have a couple of thoughts. Instead of using Firefox to import your IE Favorites, export them from IE, saving them in a file in your Firefox profile folder. IE names the file bookmark.htm by default.

Unfortunately, Firefox can't read that file, until you rename it to bookmarks.html. Note the addition of the s before the dot, and the addition of the l to the end of the extension.

As soon as you add a bookmark, or edit your bookmarks after selecting the menu item Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks, Firefox will create a bookmarks.bak file in your profile folder. This will provide a backup bookmarks file for you should the primary .html file become corrupted. If that happens, simply delete the .html file and change the .bak extension to .html.

    HTH.

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried it but it did not work. It might have something to do with the fact that I initially downloaded the Beta version of Mozilla Firefox 1.0 I deleted it and downloaded the revised version and everything worked as it is supposed to.
