    Good Morning

When I start getting these little ( annoying ) hiccups, taking a look see what is running in the background is the first place I go.

Many times I have found that some program that I use will put itself back into the startup group when I shut it down.( WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME !! )

And I find that A LOT of newer software is doing just that.

I can't be specific as to which ones they were as it has been awhile since I used them. Or I may have even uninstalled them.

Some others I found it was a setting that I missed.

And sometimes it may be one individual piece of software but a COMBINATION of what is running.

    For example;

Program A may be OK by itself.
Program B may be OK by itself.
But run the two at the same time and all hell can break loose.

It may even be the version of A and/or B that make a difference.

But as of this moment it appears as though Pesky Pest Patrol is causing you the problems.

Yeah BB, the only way I can get the screen saver to run properly is to disable Pest Patrol, so, now when I'm going to be gone and want screen saver running, I disable my DSL line and shut down Pesky Pest Patrol. Then the screen saver runs beautifully. In this case, Pest Patrol is a pest. I'm not sure I am going to keep it, 30MB of page file and 50% of processor every 8 seconds seems somewhat excessive. What do you think????

I have the MSFT Plus Aquarium and it is so realistic, you can almost want to go fishing. Looks as good or better than my Daughter's real one.

Thanks again for your clues to what was going on.

    You ask.

I answer. "If it were me that program would be GONE ASAP."

I have had to disposed of a couple of programs for that reason.

You have caused me to think about looking for that SS.

It is part of MSFT Plus Digital edition, contains 4 or 5 great looking 3D screen savers, a couple of games, some other stuff.

Nah, it's just a program that thinks it should be in charge! My girl is behaving like a lady, I'm going to reward her with a nice new OS today, right after I finish the Christmas shopping and 5 million other things I got to do today.

    You be good now,

    Martin

A nice new CLEAN install? Or a carry over of known existing problems? Inquiring minds want to know! :D

NO, no, no, no clean install!! She's bringing her problems with her. How else could I continue the social intercourse with this bbs? A clean system with no problems? How boring!! I know you love a challenge, how come you don't want me to have one?
