I’m looking for some media player software for audio (wav, mp3) where playback speed can be adjusted with a slider -- kind of like adjusting playback volume with a slider.

I have a couple proprietary software programs which have a built in playback of wav material where the speed can be adjusted by the user, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a speed "slide" on any of the several playback programs that I’ve downloaded and used over the years. (For reasons a little too complicated to go into here, I can't just take an independent wav file and plug it into either of these programs and play it.)

Anybody have any recollection of such a speed-adjustment feature in any standard playback program like WinAmp? RA, WMPlayer, MusicMatch?

    TIA --- maureen

I used to use SONIQUE for my default player and it had this feature. If I remember correctly, there was a small dial on the player that you could use to change the speed. I believe it was labled "pitch ". I don't know if it still has it or not because I haven't used it for a couple years and the version I had then was at least a year old then. You might have a look at it. I can't tell you if it contains any spyware or not if that concerns you. It didn't at the time I used it, but it's changed hands since then so....

Hi, Zander. "“ you were right, but I’m still looking.

I downloaded and installed Sonique: it still does have the little dial, deeply hidden, with a very limited adjustment. It works, but doesn’t have the range I want. I need this for a group of people who will be taking dictation individually on their own computers. Thanks though, GOOD MEMORY!

So -- If anyone else knows of software with maybe a little more substantial feature for playback speed adjustment, I’m still searching.

    Thanks anyone.
