I need help bad and I suspect the solution to my issue is VERY simple.

I had some adware problems, and in the midsts of trying to fix them I deleted the Windows Help files accidentally. I figured just reinstalling Windows 2000 would resolve the problem... and it did. I have my HELP files back!! However, now, as soon as I boot my computer I am greeted with a bunch of Windows Installer and Windows Setup windows. I can still use the computer, but throughout my usage several Windows Installer windows keep popping up, acting almost like pop-ups. By the way, these windows that keep popping up are install windows for applications that I already have installed in my machine and they are working fine. This problem started IMMEDIATELY after I reinstalled Windows.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Do you have Microsoft office on your PC?

When you re-install windows Office often wants to set up your profile again and reinstall any updated system files replaced by the Windows re-install, to its own newer versions. This can invoke the installer. Why it happens when you boot may be the office item in start-all programs-startup.

If so best cure is to re-install office, and then run word or excel to get the installer over and done with.

In any case it sounds like a program you have installed needs to update its system files replaced by the re-install, so you may have to re-install any programs you have running at startup to cure this.
