That pesky "This folder is being processed" mess

I've looked at the various threads on this topic and Ed Mullen's recommendations, done them all, and I get mail one time, then the error message starts up again. I've run a virus scan, I've deleted the .msf files, I've used webmail to clean out the messages on my ISP, and the problem continues to recur. I guess I'm to the point now where I need to create a new profile, but I have no idea how to do that. Is there a step-by-step on how to do that here at the site (I couldn't find anything on a search) and, if not, can you come to my aid, Ramona! Thanks!!
