Installed Netscape 7.2 for my mom, in it's own directory C:\Netscape 7.2
Made a new Profile for NS 7.2 (before installing NS 7.2) following Ramona's To Create a New Profile. Still have NS 7.0 installed. Everything works fine with NS 7.2 except I can not bypass Profile Manager using How to Bypass the Profile Manager on Startup. If I place a space after Netscp.exe and before -P and a space before the profile name and click the NS shortcut it just flashes and nothing opens. If I don't put a space between the -Pprofilename, it does not bypass. I have tried this method with both NS 7.0 and NS 7.2 with no luck. Any suggestions?
Also when I deleted Communicator 4.7 I was no longer able to connect to certain urls like her virus software help center. It said needed program.exe. I did a search and there was no program.exe file. So doing a google search I found the problem. NS Communicator had taken over url:hypertext transfer from I.E. When Communicator was deleted, there was no exe. to complete this task. I was able to put IE back for the file extension and all is well. :D
Thanks for all your great information.

I assume that NS is the same as Mozilla as far as the profile manager goes.

When I open the profile manager, there is a listing of the profiles to use and a check box that says "don't ask at startup ". From then on, the shortcut will open at the profile selected.

    Hmmmmmmmmm

Well a bell just went off. :D I have 2 shortcuts, one for each version but I didn't assign the profile to EACH shortcut. I added a profile to only one target at a time and when it didn't work I removed -P profile name. Will try adding -P profile to EACH target and see what happens. Does this sound correct?

    Aunt Polly,

Yes, adding the -p profilename to each Target line is exactly what you should do. They should look similar to my Netscape 7.1 and 7.2 shortcut command lines:

    "C:\Netscape 7.1\Netscp.exe" -p ramona -quiet

    "C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape\Netscp.exe" -p mona -quiet

The -quiet eliminates the splash screen.
