    Hi
I am running XP home with IE6 and SP2 installed and i am unable to view some of the following page.... http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/cms.asp?Page=/Home/Customers/SearchforaJob

I can open the page but cannot see any writing below the red boxes at the top of the page, there should also be some drop down scroll boxes to select various options and these do not appear either on my home pc, but i can see them on my pc at work which is running win 2000.
Could anyone suggest please what options in IE6 i must change to completely view the site.

    many thanks for any replies

In IE, toolbar>tools>internet options>security tab if you trust this site and wish full access at all times add this site to either your Local settings Zone or your trusted Zone. If you only wish temporary use of this site change your security setting for interenet zone to default if "medium" or custom "medium ". You may have to hit the reset button to make the security setting change stick. Apply and okay your way out. Just remember to change this back when done with the site.

I prefer the first option to the second if your memory is faulty or your easily distracted or get side tracked.

    ------
This info is based on a nonsp2 patched system. I believe the same applies to sp2, but I thought sp2 has a toolbar (the name escapes me at the moment)that allows overriding certain security blocked settings temporarily for sites that have been prevented from doing so. Did this not function?

If I'm off base here, someone will let us know. If not I'll run into the sp2 subforum and refresh my own memory on this sp2 component and be back to append the information.

Thanks goddez1 adding it to my trusted sites list cured the problem but i wonder what setting was causing the problem as no popup info bar or any other popup box appeared to ask for any permissions.

    Hi alboy,

Thanks for updating your post and sharing the results.

I'm not sure which one of the security settings blocked the site. Ordinarily, I'd have found out for you because I was curious myself. I could have switched from medium to high security setting, noting the differences, then while in medium, apply each difference one at a time until the page "poofed" again. Alas, my time is consumed with another's post that I am determined to find an answer for. This has involved a lot of searching and reading. I tend to break that monotony with what I call, "drive by's" by answering board posts that I am familiar with. Happily, this resulted in your fix but without the finer details. If I find myself with more free time, I will get back to this post and fill in those holes.

In the mean time I'm glad this worked for you and your most welcome.... :)
