I have a machine on the bench that has some corporate anti-spyware software that needs to be tested. Can anyone direct me to some sites that will infect it for sure?

I need as much as possible. I could just browse for ****, but with my luck someone important would walk in and catch me - "testing software? , yeah right, you're sacked mate ".

Have you tried using the Eicar Test File ? The best test with it is to double zip the original and see if it gets detected.

Thanks for that but it only seems to work with the AV software. I was looking for something along the lines of dialers, internet optimsers, dealtime etc, anything that will test the antispyware.

You could try any one of these CWS domains. Check some of the crack and warez sites.

Hey, Grunty, what you need is a TEENAGER. Give them 10 minutes on the computer, and you'll know if the new software is working!

This page from Spyware Warrior might give you some ideas, too. This one, too, from PC Pitstop.

Thanks for all the replies. I found a site that lists most of the spyware infections with links to their makers - very useful.

I was looking for preventative software rather than stuff that cleans, seems that the one that works best is the google toolbar. I installed it on a machine known for its iffy content that I have had to clean a couple of times before. The user notched up an impressive 945 stopped popups in a couple of weeks with no infections at all.

    Thanks again
