I received message from Netscape/AOL. Netscape is currently looking for testers for testing and providing information for new browsers. The new Netscape browser will be based on Mozilla Firefox.

    Also, from BetaNews' report
AOL could not yet comment on what to expect in the prototype, the revamped browser will likely extend Firefox's feature set with Netscape-specific extensions and retain Netscape's traditional green user interface.

AOL announced the upcoming prototype in a message to Netscape users, even taking a swipe at Internet Explorer for its recent security woes.

    Antony,

Thanks very much for posting the information on the new Netscape Prototype Review. I just registered to test the browser, and hope that other members will do the same. Once you are registered, there is a Forum on which discussions about the Prototype can be discusssed.

I find it most interesting that this browser will be based on Firefox.

    You are welcome, Ramona.

    Additional information.
According to the prototype website, some new features we can expect to see... Site Controls and Live Content
You would be able to manage different settings of security for different sites. And you can customise your browser toolbar with live weather, news headlines etc.

Up and running. It seems ok. No extentions, so far, and only Netscape Search available.

Does the browser include advertising for AOL ( "Free 30 day trial" or something similar)?

    user_name,

The Prototype doesn't contain AOL advertising, but it would be my guess that the Releases will.

There is actually a 30-day trial bookmark which appeared all in a sudden, but I found it only because I was looking for something else, in my Personal Toolbar. I did not see it in the pre-given items of the Personal Toolbar.
