The grandson got DSL through Verizon. When they talked him through the setup on his computer they use the connect broarband using User Name & Password or PPPoE. This created a verizon connection. Now when he turn is computer off and back on he needs to go to the connections and reconnect each time he wants to use the internet. On my cable setup I used connect using a broadband that is always on. His there any reason why he can't use the always on connection method?

I have Qwest DSL and I have an "always on" connection like a cable connection. My "Setup CD" from Qwest didnt work, so I called and I was walked through entering the logon information for my ISP into my router. I set up my network connection the same way I do for Cable connections ( "Connect using a broadband connection that is always on ") and my router just knows what log on info to give. What router/modem does he have? The Verizon site says it is the Westell Versalink modem/wireless router combo. If thats what he has, then it will probably be fairly simple to enter the PPoE info.
